How to Choose a New HVAC System When You Don’t Know the Brands
Why the brand matters less than you think, what the ratings actually mean, and the six things on a quote that decide how your system performs.

Deivy founded Havana Solutions in 2022 and still works in the field, helping homeowners with AC, furnace and heat pump problems. He is NATE and EPA 608 certified and explains repair options clearly in English or Spanish.
Across the street from Deivy's childhood home in Cuba, a TV repair shop regularly threw away broken parts. He collected resistors and capacitors and wired them into homemade projects. Many smoked the moment he connected them to 24 volts. Years later, he learned that the same 24 volts powers the controls in many residential HVAC systems.
That early interest in electrical work eventually became formal training. He studied the trade in Cuba for three years before moving to the United States in 2014. There, he went on to handle heavy electrical cable for airport and laboratory projects. Still, he wanted a career where he could keep learning and one day build something of his own.
During COVID, Deivy completed HVAC training and began working in the field. He later earned EPA 608 and NATE certifications. In 2022, he started Havana Solutions.
One lesson from those early service calls still shapes how he works today. Replacing the first failed part did not always solve the whole problem. Another fault could be hiding elsewhere in the system.
That experience changed his approach. Deivy now looks at the full HVAC system before recommending a repair. He explains what he finds in plain language and shows homeowners their options. They understand what they are paying to fix before they approve the work.
