No hot water at all.
On a gas unit, look at the pilot, the thermocouple, or the gas valve. On an electric unit, a heating element or thermostat has likely failed.
Denver Water calls its supply soft to moderately hard, and it runs a little harder in winter. That means minerals ride along in every gallon. When your heater warms the supply, those minerals fall out and settle on the tank floor as gritty sediment. In a tankless heater, they cling to the heating parts instead. Either way, the heater works harder, reheats more slowly and runs out of hot water sooner.
Havana Solutions repairs gas, electric and tankless water heaters in homes and condos across the Denver metro. We find the failed part first. Then we check what scale and sediment have done to the tank, the burner or the elements over the years. You see the price in writing before any part gets replaced, and nothing moves without your yes.
Hardness in Denver Water's southern system, which the utility rates moderately hard.

Water heaters warn you first. Catch one early. The fix is often a single part, not a flooded basement and a rushed replacement in January.
On a gas unit, look at the pilot, the thermocouple, or the gas valve. On an electric unit, a heating element or thermostat has likely failed.
Sediment is crowding the bottom of the tank. A broken dip tube can also mix cold supply into the hot.
Water trapped under a layer of sediment boils and bursts through it. The burner is working harder than it should.
A worn-out anode rod lets the tank start to rust. A rotten-egg smell can come from the anode reacting with bacteria in the tank.
A drain valve, pipe connection or relief valve may be leaking, and those can be repaired. A leak from the tank wall itself means replacement.
This valve opens when heat or pressure climbs too high. Steady dripping needs a diagnosis, not a bucket. Smell gas near the heater? Get everyone out and call 911 once you are outside.
Is the tank itself leaking? That calls for a new heater, and we will quote it separately in writing, apart from any repair price. If that same tank also feeds a hydronic air handler for your condo's heat, mention it when you call. Boiler acting up instead? We repair boilers and radiator systems too. An old boiler that is acting up usually shows its own warning signs first.
Where Repair Ends and Replacement Starts
One failed part is behind plenty of cold showers. We replace that part, leave the tank where it is, and test the heater before we go. A leaking tank wall is different. Nothing seals rusted steel. When we recommend a new heater, you see why in photos taken at your house.
| What you notice | Usual fix | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Pilot will not stay lit | Repair | A thermocouple or gas valve can be replaced on its own |
| No hot water on an electric unit | Repair | Heating elements and thermostats swap out |
| Hot water runs short | Repair | Flushing sediment or a new dip tube can restore it |
| Rusty hot water | Repair or replace | A new anode rod helps if the tank has not started to rust through |
| Dripping relief valve | Repair | The valve, or the pressure behind it, gets fixed |
| Leak from the tank body | Replace | A tank wall cannot be patched |
Gas, Electric and Tankless, All Handled
Gas, electric, or tankless, we repair all three, from the burner or elements to the valves and controls. Gas units lose pilots and thermocouples, electric ones burn out elements, and tankless models scale up. The diagnosis starts there.
When sediment or scale helped cause the failure, you see it in the photos. You also hear what would slow it down, from a yearly flush to a new anode rod or a softener. Then you choose.
In many condos, one heater warms the showers and feeds a hydronic air handler for the rooms. We service both. When the showers and the rooms go cold together, one visit traces the fault from end to end.
No hot water, not enough, or an odd color? Tell us, in English or Spanish, and mention whether the heater runs on gas or electricity.
The technician checks the burner or elements, the controls, the valves, and the tank itself. Photos record what we find.
We explain what failed and write down the repair price. The work waits for your yes.
We replace the failed part, refill the tank if needed, and confirm hot water at a faucet before we leave.
Call Early, Especially for a Leak
A leaking tank can ruin a finished basement floor and the drywall beside it before anyone notices the puddle. Shut off the supply first. Then call. Same-day visits happen when the schedule has room. Regular hours run 8 am to 5 pm, and later visits carry a different rate.
Close the cold supply valve above the heater, and on an electric unit, switch off its breaker too. Then call (720) 659-2059. Tell us where the leak seems to start.
Call (720) 659-2059, or book online and list the hours someone will be home to let us in. Let us know whether the heater runs on gas or electricity, and we will bring the right parts.
We repair water heaters from Denver and Aurora out to Littleton, Centennial, Highlands Ranch and Castle Rock. Hardness varies by utility. The visit does not. Near the edge of the map? Ask when you call, and we will check your address before booking.

Such a fantastic experience. My heat went out right before the Arctic front came and he made sure to come and install my furnace before we were without heat in negative temperatures. Very professional, great installation, clean work. Very knowledgeable and explained everything along the way…

Every visit starts with a $70 diagnosis. Havana Solutions credits that fee toward the repair when you go ahead, and the written price comes before any work.
Yes. Havana Solutions repairs tankless models along with gas and electric tanks. Scale on the heat exchanger is a common tankless problem on harder Denver supply. A flush often helps.
It depends on where it failed. Havana Solutions repairs thermocouples, elements, valves and dip tubes, but a leak from the tank body means replacement, quoted separately.
About 10 to 15 years for a tank, says the Department of Energy. Tankless models run closer to 20. Havana Solutions also weighs the condition and the cost of the fix before recommending a replacement.
Yes. Havana Solutions services the heater and the hydronic air handler it feeds. One visit covers both sides.
Tell us what the heater is doing, how it is fueled and roughly how old it is. We will track down the failed part, show you what wore it out and write up the price first. Then the decision is yours.
